Leazes Parade, Student Accommodation

Project Overview

Leazes Parade, now serving as student accommodation, is housed in two former barracks buildings that are Grade II listed. The barracks were converted into student housing in 1994, alongside the construction of additional purpose-built blocks.

Mobile CAD Surveying Solutions was commissioned by Tokoro Capital to conduct a measured survey of the internal floors and loft plans, which included detailed documentation of radiators and visible plug sockets to ensure compliance with regulations. Following this, we were tasked with returning to complete the external elevations and roof plan, utilising drone technology to assist in data capture.

Challenges Faced

A combination of TS control and NAVVIS scanning technology was
employed to achieve high accuracy and speed in data collection.

Daily uploads from the site allowed for fast-tracked drawing
production, enabling the team to process scan data efficiently and
meet tight deadlines.

Drones were used to capture roof data that was inaccessible from
the ground due to line-of-sight issues, ensuring comprehensive
coverage of all necessary areas.

The Outcome

Mobile CAD Surveying Solutions successfully delivered a detailed and accurate survey of the Leazes Parade student accommodation, overcoming the challenges of tight deadlines, occupied premises, and expanded project scope. The project underscores the effectiveness of advanced technology and efficient workflows in meeting the demands of complex surveying tasks
